Boyd began his career as a financial advisor with Manulife Financial in 1984. Seeking a higher level of independence he moved out on his own in 1989 and established Boyd Dixon Financial Services. Later that year Great West Life offered and he accepted additional responsibilities as sales manager, setting up their Moncton office. In 1996 he resigned his sales manager position to focus full-time on his clients’ needs.
In addition to working with individuals, couples and families to achieve greater financial security Boyd also works with business owners to develop group benefit plans that provide protection for their employees while helping them retain valued employees.

John began his career in financial services with Atlantic Trust in Halifax, before joining Manulife Financial in 1988. After a year in Halifax and a year in Toronto with Manulife, John was moved to Moncton where he was responsible for administration of Manulife’s operations in New Brunswick and PEI. John subsequently spent a number of years in sales management before leaving Manulife to become a partner in a local financial planning firm. In 2011 John had the opportunity to go to France with his family and sold his business interests before embarking on a year of cultural exploration. During what became a three year hiatus he and his wife also purchased a small hobby farm with a 150 year old house, whose restoration continues to provide opportunity for relaxation and distraction.
Since returning to Moncton John has re-entered the financial services industry with the establishment of Dixon & Patterson Financial Planning Inc.
John works with his clients to develop a sound understanding of their personal life objectives and financial situation. He then works with his clients to help them set their priorities, establish obtainable objectives and develop strategies for achieving the targeted outcomes. Once an agreed upon plan is put in place, John meets with his clients on a regular basis to monitor the progress of the plan, and develop corrective actions to keep the plan on track.
John holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Dalhousie University and is a Fellow of the Life Management Institute. In 1998 he passed the qualifying exam to become a Certified Financial Planner licensee and in 2005 passed the final exam to become a Chartered Life Underwriter, receiving the graduation medal for highest standing in New Brunswick.
